Sink 'n Sour - blanket
Van der Harst, Diana
Jacquard woven blanket
Material: mohair, cotton, acrylic and viscose with an embroidered edge
Originated from my project 'Tender Time Sighs' (2003-present)
Production year: 2009
Tere Tijd Zucht (Tender Time Sighs) is a multimedia project that can be described as a contemporary urban archeological research project.
Items found on the street in an urban environment, and generally regarded useless, comprised the starting point of this project.
The transience, the impermanence of things give objects their own unique character. And these objects always give me a very emotional, physical and spiritual experience.
The perfect imperfection of all that is withering or fading. Showing us a world, telling us a story that is loose from anything material.
This blanket started with me finding a sink used for Acid etching. The metal skin beautifully damaged by the acid. The picture I took was a starting point for one of my blankets. A blanket, when rapped around you, being like a eroded second skin.
